Is it spring yet?
Haven't posted on here in a great long while. Retired last August (yes, again) and have been enjoying moving on and tending to other matters. To each their own, but I'm quite content with where I am now in life. :)
Not to say there aren't ups and downs, but you'll have that no matter what you do. Didn't get very far in the dating scene before bailing on that, but it's worked out for the best. ;) Every once in a blue moon I'll go out on a (personal life) date with someone from a dating site (or that one guy met through a friend), but the stupidity of it all was too mind-boggling. The last "date" I went on, if you can really call it that considering he wouldn't so much as buy me a drink, ended after he rambled about computer gaming and THEN abruptly, out of nowhere, asked how I am with orgasms. *LOL* Swear to god, that's what he did. Earlier he had tried offering me a hallucinogen, which I refused (duh).
Went out on a few dates back around Christmas with a seemingly decent young man who works for a bank. That ended after he admitted to robbing a family member of a huge amount of money (and never attempted to repay it). Can't believe he actually admitted it outright, but I'm glad he did. Saved me time and effort. Too bad since he was more intellectually-stimulating than many in our age group.
Haven't met a woman I'd like to go on a date with in nearly a year, the last being a one-hit-wonder (dinner, drinks and hugs -- mutual lack of follow-up). Just doesn't appear I'm a lesbian. *sigh* But I will survive. *hehe* Teasing. We all like to think the grass will be greener on the other side. Unlikely.
Without going into details on my current situation, just know that I'm much more comfortable and satisfied with what I have now. :) Much.
Been volunteering more and taming down in my personal time. Sometimes I head back to the bar, but give it a few nights and I'll recall why that scene blows. Always happens. Recently I stumbled across a nice local bistro with a dark, cozy atmosphere that my friends approve of. Otherwise we drink brews and cook dinner at home. View a film and relax without worrying with the cigarette smoking ban. It's better this way. Fewer jerks to contend with.
Besides, I have enough on my plate already. There's work to do and challenges that lie ahead.
