mishaps
I had a good day today, but yesterday had two mishaps that upset me a bit. For one, a new person set up an appt, showed up and then wanted to leave without the experience. I tried to find out what was stressing him to get him to stay but he wouldn't give any answers. Then I got upset and stressed with him and told him if he did indeed feel that way, then I was done trying and it would be best if he left quickly. I told him he messed up my day and stressed me which was true. Somehow he could see that his choice did in fact have that effect on me and he felt bad enough about it that he began asking if there was anything he could do to make me feel better. He even offered to stay at that point. Sorry, but I cannot give a good session by the time I am that stressed and upset, so no I would not let him stay, and there was nothing he could do. This was not some manipulation tactic I was using to get him to stay. If it was, apparently it would have worked. He really should have thought about this before he set up the appt. Would his words and actions affect someone else like me in this case? Did he think about this at all? To arrive at an appt and then decide to leave abruptly and think it would mean nothing to the person you did this to is just shortsighted. He never indicated beforehand that he was nervous or needed any special attention, and in fact he was the one who behaved as if he were in a rush, leaving me no advantage to relax him or understand the situation at all. I told him it would be wise if he informs any future possibilities of his anxieties and give her a chance if he ever tries again. I was not happy. I do all that I can to make a person feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable and I have a great success ratio on that. But he would not even give it a chance. That is a huge mistake.
Another thing happened.. someone called from an unknown number and without giving his name, expected me to recognize him by his voice and accent alone. Well, I happen to have many clients with accents. Even with a name (it was a common name) it wasn't enough to recognize him. I didn't know if this was how he liked to have fun by keeping me guessing or if he was actually offended. The call got dropped or either he
was too annoyed at my lack of recognition to want to talk further and hung up. If the call was dropped, I wonder if he thought that I hung up and got even further annoyed with me. Well, there was nothing I could do. It just left me to wonder what happened, who was it, what were his thoughts??
